Research Data Collection System

The Challange

- A large medical center was collecting data on research participants using a Microsoft Access database.

- Collaborating facilities would send paper copies of forms to the facility for manual data entry.

The Solution

- We implemented a slimmed-down version of our ITW EMR system to allow each facility to electronically enter the data.

- We then created an extraction system to pull the data (without including any patient identifiers ) to a central server.

The Result

- The electronic data entry allows the data to be validated earlier in the process, resulting in better data being captured.

- The system has the ability to track the individual as they move from one facility to another, allowing the data to reflect the full story of the patients
